Why I did this.

I thought it would make writing this letter a little bit easier. I’ve been doing this for over 30 years, and it keeps getting bigger and bigger. Once we retired, and then added some grandkids, things got exciting. My little Christmas letter grew to 8 pages and was filled with copy and little, tiny photos. I had to write about all the fun stuff we did with our friends and drop in a photo. But the photo was so small you couldn’t see who was who. My plan is that you can click on the small photo and pull up a nice hi-res image. I hope it works out that way.

I was also limited to just 4 double sided pages. Add anymore and the paper and postage costs get crazy. This way, I can type as much as I want. I don’t plan on posting a novel each year, but it will be nice to be able work without the page constraint. And this way, I can mention all my friends and our adventures!

The other reason to do this online is so that I can stop the production headache. I send out over 150 letters each year. I’ve been printing these letters and the envelopes at home, and it takes 2 printers, about 2 weeks and a few hundred dollars. And a decent amount of bourbon. I’d rather save the bourbon for a night around the firepit with a cigar and a few friends.
